Snoop Wants to Rock With Susan Boyle

snoop%20doggWhile Snoop Dogg is reasonably one of Hip-Hop's most successful artists, he is branching out in ways that were never imagined. Snoop has tapped Britain's Got Talent alum Susan Boyle for a new project. "She's a great artist - I'm looking forward to going into the studio with her, why not? We're going to get our minds together and figure out what we're going to sing about," Snoop told The Sun. "I'm down with that. There isn't much I can't do."

Last year, Boyle wowed the world with her singing on the UK reality show, leading to a record deal and global stardom. Several artists have been looking toward Boyle for collaborations, but by far the most obscure one is that of her and Snoop Dogg. Details on the project have yet to be disclosed, but whatever comes of it should be nothing less than interesting.

It takes one hell of a successful rap artist to crossover far enough to tap someone like Susan Boyle for a project. This decision Snoop has made is pretty monumental, considering his origins in the game. Mr. 'Nuttin But a G Thang,' 'Gin & Juice,' etc. etc. is going to work with a British reality star in her mid-40s crafting semi-operatic music. Then again, he could just be doing this to get back in Britain's good graces after being excommunicated.

This isn't like when Janet Jackson collaborated with opera singer Kathleen Battle, or when Pharoah Monch worked with the now AWOL Hip-Hop violinist Miri Ben Ari. Oh no. This is bigger than that. This is completely leaving one's comfort zone in the name of music (for both parties).

If this project works out well, then, bravo. If not, we can add this hiccup to Snoop's secret career fail stash, which also includes signing to No Limit Records back in the day and starring in 'Baby Boy.'
