gucci%20maneAfter a six month sentence, Gucci Mane was released from prison yesterday [May 12] shortly after midnight. The rapper was greeted by friends and family, including rapper/friend, Shawty Lo. Gucci's statement to the press was as follows:

"Unfortunately, my incarceration also came at a pivotal point in my career, just as my first major label album was dropping. I was forced to miss what should have been one of the proudest moments of my life. This is something that I will make sure never happens again. My time in jail was trying, but I grew from it and am now a stronger and better person. I want to continue on a positive track and truly focus on being a role model to my fans and my community. I am looking towards the future with a newfound respect and appreciation for the law and a strong dedication to my music and my career."

Per Rap-Up.com, Gucci Mane is planning his next album 'The Appeal' for a late summer release and will be performing at NY station Hot 97's Summer Jam on June 6.

In other Gucci-related news, Deb Antney, Waka Flocka's mom and owner of Mizay, spoke on Gucci Mane's booking/management situation to AllHipHop.com. She stated that she was not fired by Gucci Mane, rather his business was moved to another company. Antney also spoke on her dealings with Nicki Minaj, who recently fired Antney as her manager in exchange for Lady Gaga's manager Troy Antney as well as Sean "Puffy" Combs (details on that are still foggy). Antney said she chose to reveal Nicki's Cease and Desist letter so that people would stop approaching her for Nicki-related business. "You don't wanna be with me? You're gone. You're free. Do whatever it is you wanna do," Antney stated. "I'm a creator. Ain't nothin' you can do to me."
