asian%20manHappy Wednesday.  I've been up since 6 AM, which makes me super special.  When you have two young children, sleep doesn't come easily. But I still can't go to sleep early as the night owl instinct takes over and I'm relegated to 5 hrs sleep a night.  Anyways, here's some news ....FUN FUN!

The new Matt Skiba album "Demos" is getting mastered this week.  The release date will be FEB 16th, 2010.  15 brand new songs. All songs were recorded over the past 10 months by Mr. Skiba in various avenues.  Whether in his bedroom or while traveling, Matt recorded these songs originally as demos, but the songs are perfect as is.  We couldn't ask for more.  Anybody who loves the Alkaline Trio without the glossed over production will be incredibly happy with this final product.  We plan on releasing various colors of vinyl and will be taking pre-orders sometime in DECEMBER. Once we get the mastered version back, we'll post two songs from the record.

Also, on FEB 16th we will release the SMOKING POPES "Collection" on CD and VINYL.  20 songs from the bands first few years as a band.  Including unreleased material and out of print 7 inches.

Kepi Ghoulie was in Europe for two months and after only a week back home, he's leaving for more touring.  If you don't have his new album, you can order it through us of course, but also the folks over at interpunk have an insane deal where you get a kepi t-shirt and the new cd for only $10.  Damn ... so check that out on the main page at interpunk.com

We are in the process of re-pressing the CHRIS WOLLARD/MIKE HALE split 7" and the ANDREW JACKSON JIHAD "PEOPLE WHO EAT PEOPLE" 12". Look for those to be back in stock sometime next month.

Five Iron Frenzy will be releasing a full length documentary called "the Rise and Fall of Five Iron Frenzy".  We will be releasing this on DVD once their vocalist Reese Roper finishes it.  He's been working on this for the last 6 years, so it better be amazingly good.  They've started a website to promote the release, you can check it out here: http://www.fifdvd.com/
Maybe we can do some screenings in Denver when it's close to being released.  Hmmmm.....

FOR THE WIN are recording a new record and they have posted a couple new songs for you to hear.  Enjoy.  www.myspace.com/bayareaposicore
They'll be opening up for the Lawrence Arms on their Nov. 12th bay area stop at the bottom of the hill.  Not sure when the new record will be coming out, but definitely sometime in 2010.

Ok, that's all for now.  Enjoy your day and I'll check back next week.    Be well. By the way, my birthday is next Wednesday Nov. 11th. I turn 40. Yeah, I know you're excited.

Peace, mike park

There are times as a so-called critic that I hear from people around me that I am 'too nice' or 'you could stand to be a little meaner.' So while I agree with these people that I could be a little more 'crusty' in my views on songs, I generally actually LIKE what I hear and if I like something, I am going to 'praise' it.  It's that simple.   I can like the latest "I'm from the country song," even if I am tired of Read More ...

Right now I'm reading a lot about music. It almost sounds oxymoronic. To read about music, when music is what you listen to. But music, like many of the arts, is something that touches Read More ...
