Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with thoughts on everything from Miley moving on, to Katy Perry becoming marriage minded, to Ashley Greene and Amanda Bynes' magnificent modeling moments, and since it's Pop Shots you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.

miley%20cyrus* Brace yourselves. Are you sitting down? If not, why are you at the computer standing up? Regardless... Hannah Montana will soon be coming to an end. Yes, it has been announced that the upcoming fourth season (has it really only been around for four seasons?) will be the show's last. Something tells me Miley will still be able to get along OK, but the race is on for which of Disney's teen stars will break out next. Demi Lovato? Selena Gomez? Someone I'm totally unaware of because I only tune in to Disney when I sit on the remote control and it changes the channel?

* In news about big breasted women that disappoints me greatly, it is being reported that Katy Perry is now engaged to not even passably funny British comedian Russell Brand. Am I being unfairly judgmental of Brand because he's getting with the "I Kissed a Girl" singer? Probably, but damnit man, I saw her first, that should count for something!

* You smell that? Something stinks in here. I think it's the final album sales numbers for 2009, which were down 12.7% because the major labels STILL haven't figured out how to properly utilize the net. File sharing has been around for over ten years now. Can you think of any other job that you'd get to keep if you were still failing after being given a ten year learning curve to figure things out? Overall music sales were up a miniscule 2.1%, but that's from selling singles, not albums. Will anyone get fired? Probably not. They're still convinced it's everyone else's fault.

dave%20matthews%20band* The Grammy's announced a few more performers for their January 31st telecast. The lineup now includes Lady Gaga, Green Day, Pink, Black Eyed Peas, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Maxwell, Dave Matthews Band, Zac Brown Band and Lady Antebellum. Apparently they plan on finding time to give away little gold gramophones in-between all the one song performances. Seriously, though, does anyone think, "ooh, Green Day is going to do ONE SONG, I MUST tune in to this three hour telecast?"

* In "man, those girls are slammin" news, both Ashley Greene of Twilights fame and Amanda Bynes, who's been in the public eye since her days as a Nickelodeon star, are set to burn up the pages of a couple magazines with some smokin hot photo shoots. If I made things awkward for you by reminding you of The Amanda Show while you attempted to envision hot, scantily clad women, that was my intention. Greene's spread will be in Sports Illustrated, while Bynes' will be in Maxim. Both are online already (see Greene here and Bynes here), just don't forget to thank the print world for making those pics happen!

* One of the best sitcoms on television, How I Met Your Mother, celebrated it's 100th episode this week and they did it in style, with both Rachel Bilson, of The O.C. fame, and former WCW Nitro Girl Search winner / WWE Diva / Dancing With The Stars contestant, Stacy Keibler as guest stars (love em both!). HIMYM was in danger of being cancelled during its first two seasons, so to see it reach episode #100 and become a juggernaut is a wonderful thing. I hope everyone suited up for this one.

* Award shows are normally just three hours of celebrities patting themselves on the back, but every once in a while a train wreck happens at one that reminds us that they CAN be interesting. Take, for instance, Mariah Carey's acceptance speech at The Palm Springs Film Festival last week. As if the fact that the star of Glitter was taking home a film-related award that wasn't a Razzie wasn't interesting enough, she accepted the award so drunk I think she halfway expected to hear "last call" instead of her name being announced. Needless to say, Barney Stinson could have bedded her in under sixty seconds in the state she was in. Enjoy.

And with that, my time is up for the week, but I'll be back next week with more shots on all things pop.

Right now I'm reading a lot about music. It almost sounds oxymoronic. To read about music, when music is what you listen to. But music, like many of the arts, is something that touches all of your senses. Now, I am not going to muse on the Kindle, and how it is going ruin literature and the literary process of digesting reading materials. I do love the bookshelves that runs width wise under my low windows of my cond Read More ...

I wanted to set the table with this edition of "R.eal A.nd P.ersonal" for columns to come on the subject of the Female Emcee. As time goes on, I will slowly phase out that title and hope that you will do the same. Because face it, calling a woman that raps, a female emcee, is like calling an African-American that plays the position of quarterback, a black quarterback. Ability should be sexless. We must change how we Read More ...
