R. City Goes Mixtape Crazy

R.City (a/k/a Rock City) will release three album length mixtapes throughout the holiday season as a thank you to the loyal fans who have helped the group's PTFAO (Put The Fuckin' Album Out) campaign continue to build momentum and capture the attention of the music industry. Hailing from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, R. City (comprised of brothers Theron a/k/a Da Spokesman and Timothy a/k/a Don't Talk Much) have created a sound that blends Caribbean twangs of consciousness, street struggles and island life coupled with hip-hop/pop appeal. Over the past few years, the Grammy award-winning duo has achieved incredible success as songwriters, penning hits for artists such as Akon ("The Rain"), Usher ("Birthday Girl"), Mario ("Music For Love," "Skippin"), Sean Kingston ("Take You There," "Change"), Jennifer Hudson ("If This Isn't Love"), The Pussycat Dolls ("When I Grow Up") and IYAZ ("Replay"). Most recently Rock City has written songs for R.Kelly's Untitled and Chris Brown's Graffitti. 

 Despite their undeniable ability to craft hits, Rock City quickly became irritated with their label's inability to put out their debut album, Wake The Neighbors. As their frustration mounted, the duo launched the PTFAO campaign in an attempt to force the industry to take notice of their growing fan base. By releasing a consistent stream of free music available to download at www.ptfao.com, Rock City was able to showcase their incredible talents and show the world that the fans want the album (the group's last mixtape of all original material PTFAO: INDEPENDENCE DAY was downloaded well over 100,000 within its first few weeks of availability).

We wanted to show how appreciative we are by releasing some new material for them just in time for the holidays." 

To show their gratitude to their loyal fans, Rock City will stagger three mixtape releases throughout the holiday season, partnering with Leak Jones for THE LOST FILES: BlOGGER'S EDITION, IllRoots.com for PTFAO: STOP LEAKING OUR SHIT and finally Hot New Hip Hop for PTFAO: INDEPENDENCE DAY PART II. This new crop of PTFAO mixtapes will all lead up to the release of Rock City's official first single from Wake The Neighbors scheduled to be released in January 2010.
