Diamond In The Rough

Every week, 101D.com will highlight a new artist in the exclusive Diamonds In The Rough Series. This week, we proudly present Till. Not only is he a successful actor and model, but a talented indie singer on the rise with a dedicated fan base that will go to great lengths just to touch him - literally.

Background Check:
Born in Saginaw, Michigan, and raised in South Louisiana, Till is a bona-fide triple threat in the entertainment world. As an actor, he's been a leading man in numerous theatre productions and he's shared the stage with the likes of Kel Mitchell and Buddy Lewis. As a model, he's sold over 10,000 calendars. It's his work as a singer, though, and what he's accomplished in both Gospel and R&B, that's most impressive. Till's musical experiences include everything from sharing the bill with Bobby Valentino and Joe to recording with Gospel legend Keith Dobbins for an album that also included members of Sounds of Blackness. He's even appeared on BET's Bobby Jones Gospel.

The Goods: Till's latest project is a full length album titled Tillin. He describes it as "a smooth, laid back R&B album," adding "it's an empowering album, especially for women. I have songs like 'Finest Thang in the Club,' 'Don't Wanna Lose You,' 'A Girl like You,' and 'She's My Girl.'"

Irate Fans and High Honors: When the word "model" is on your resume and you're selling calendars all over the world, you're going to get your fair share of fans that are, shall we say, aggressive. Recently, Till had a run in with one such fan. "She went too far to talk to me and get my attention," he explains, "to where she came up and started snatching me out of my jacket." Even though he's seen some strangeness over the years, Till says this particular experience was "weird and odd." Thankfully, for every crazy story like that Till has an equally positive one to bounce off of it, so while on one day he was dealing with a crazed fan pulling his clothes off, on another he was being interviewed by a Chinese news program. Till called that experience "exciting," adding "it was an honor and a pleasure."
