The Genuine Imitations are some clever jokesters. Although the band from White Plains, New York is releasing an album entitled 22 Songs About Hamsters, the fact there aren’t 22 songs on the project and none of the songs have anything to do with hamsters (sorry Peta, but you’ve been punk’d). There are, however, 11 marvelous hipster-flavored indie rock tracks with witty lyricism and lighthearted tales comes across wonderfully in singles like “At The Mall,” “J. Edgar Hoover,” “On The Subway” and “Right Wing Girl.” While there might not be any mention of hamsters, the Genuine Imitations display intelligence and a keen sense of humor on this must-have debut album.
