From his MySpace profile to his mixtape titles, Mack Maine doesn’t concern himself with making things flashy or overly complicated. The well-groomed rapper from Weezy’s Young Money Entertainment imprint is simply focused on keeping things simple and packing as much punch as he can into his music. That’s what he does on his latest offering, abruptly entitled This Is Just A Mixtape. Co-starring Don Cannon, Mack Maine comes across as an extremely polished southern rapper, especially on tracks where he romances the ladies like on “No Panties,” “Girl You Nasty” featuring Gorilla Zoe and “Throw It Back” with his boss Lil’ Wayne. With collaborations from Baby, Kevin Rudolf, Mistah Fab, Rick Ross and the late Soulja Slim, it appears that this isn’t just a mixtape. It’s an awesome mixtape.
