During the pre release campaign we will analyze in detail the geographic areas where your project sales are coming from. We will then coordinate with our Buyers that represent, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, FYE, and other National, International and Independent retailers, to place your product in the stores that are in the area where you have the most demand. If all your sales during the pre release campaign are coming from Austin, TX, the buyers will not put your product at retail outlets in NY City.
No, 101 Distribution is an independent distributor. We supply the demand, you as the artist and/or your label create the demand.
Under our professional option 101 distribution does not take any money for any sales that occur other than a shipping and handling charge of $2.99 per CD for physical CD/DVD distribution only. When someone purchases a song directly from your project page at www.101d.com, you retain 100% of the sale. If someone buys an album for $9.99, you will be credited $9.99 if someone purchases a single for $0.99 you will be credited $0.99. Directing fans to purchase your product from the 101 website is the best way to make the most amount of money of your product sales! When your project is sold via a digital storefront, companies such as iTunes take a 30% cut of your single or album sale. So if you sold a single for $0.99, iTunes would credit your account $0.70, and if you sold an album at $9.99, iTunes would credit your account $7.00. For mobile ringtones and wallpaper sales, the service providers, such as AT&T and Verizon, take 50% of the gross royalty. So if a ringtone sells for $1.99, AT&T keeps $.99 and we pass the net royalty of $1.00 back to you. If your product qualifies for retail distribution the payout for physical product sales in retail is about $7.00 for domestic sales and 6.00 for international sales. Again with our Professional option 101 does not take any of the net proceeds of your sales.
101 will contact the retail buyers for your physical release once you have generated the 500 total points for sales made through your 101 Featured Project Page during your Pre Release Campaign. 1 point is given for every full album download, 1 point for every 10 single downloads, and 1 point for every 10 ringtone downloads. These points are only achieved from sales at your Artist page at www.101d.com.
iTunes pays out $0.70 to 101 Distribution. 101 Distribution takes 25% of that leaving you the artist under our basic program $0.53 iTunes lets customers who purchased some of the tracks off one of your albums to, on some future date, "Complete My Album" (CMA) and get the rest of the album for only the cost of the remaining tracks. For accounting purposes, CMA purchases do not appear: rather, the album counts as a full SALE and the previously purchased track is considered refunded. EXAMPLE: If you had an album in iTunes U.S. with 17 songs/tracks and one of your fans purchased a song from it (say, track #5) you'd get the track pay rate of $0.53. If later the same customer came back and purchased the album in its entirety as a CMA, you would earn the pay rate for a whole album sale for albums over 11 songs/tracks, $5.25; a refund for the original track #5 purchase would be generated, but not appear in your accounting: it would "cancel out" the next sale you had of that particular track. That is, if in the same month, someone (anyone) purchased track #5, that sale would be "canceled out" by the CMA refund and not appear. The refund remains until canceled out by a sale, and can persist over many months until another track #5 is purchased.
If you do not reach the 500 points YOU WILL NOT qualify for retail distribution, no matter how good you or your project is. We have great relationships with buyers all across the world and they trust and value the services and recommendations that we provide. If you cannot prove to us that you have fans that are willing to purchase your album from the comfort of their own home, what makes you think that they will go to a store to purchase it?
Typical ringtone sales by the carries is $1.99 and wall paper sales are $.99 and the retailer takes 50% and you would get 50%. 101 does not make any money on this so you get 100% net payout. You would be paid $1.00 for every ringtone sale and $.50 for every wall paper sale.
That is what is referred to as being "On Deck" and ultimately the carriers have complete control as to who gets that placement. Typically Projects that have a smash hit that is getting a lot of radio play, projects that are on a major tour, and really big name artists are the projects that are "On Deck." Your fans will still be able to get your ringtones, but not from the "On Deck" area of the carriers.
101 Distribution delivers your music to the Amazon MP3 music store, which sells music only as permanent digital downloads through the Web (no streaming is offered other than 30-second sample streams for each song). There is no physical distribution available through Amazon MP3. Your fans will be able to purchase songs individually or entire albums digitally as downloads to their computers and/or portable devices. Amazon MP3 sells individual songs and albums at various price levels: Front Line: The highest retail price in the store (good for new releases) Mid Line: Slightly lower than Front Line (good for new releases and other current releases) Catalog: Slightly lower than Mid Line (good for older or lower selling releases) Special: The lowest retail price in the store (good for promotions, old and/or low selling catalog) 101 Distribution submits all projects under the Front Line category At this time, digital songs and albums are only sold in two stores: the Amazon MP3 U.S. store and the Amazon MP3 U.K. store; be sure you have the rights to sell the music within those territories, and be prepared in case Amazon MP3 expands to other territories, since Amazon reserves the right to automatically place its catalog into any territory or store they create in any country. Amazon MP3 does not use Digital Rights Management (DRM) on music they sell. Music will be sold unprotected as MP3s. If you are concerned about the lack of DRM, please do not choose to sell your music through Amazon MP3. Amazon MP3 reserves the right to sell music any way they want and at any price they want. Amazon typically pays out between 60-65% of the sale price.
They are kind of UPC codes for singles. You must have an ISRC code to distribute and sell your singles through digital storefronts. We create ISRC codes, at no additional charge for our 101 clients, so you can sell your music through digital storefronts. If you already have ISRC codes then we can use your existing codes.
BestBuy.com, Tower.com, and FYE.com all sell mail order CD's no Digital. For you to participate in the distribution to these sites, you need to provide us with Retail Ready CD's or participate in the Disk on Demand program.
The pre release campaign begins and runs 90 days from the date you activate your Feature Project page. We evaluate all projects at the 60-day mark to access status for physical retail qualification.
We will initially store up to 30 of your retail ready CD's/DVD's at our warehouse in Phoenix for distribution for both basic and professional artists.
You are paid the pay rate in the local currency of the country where the sale occurred. For example, if an album or song sells from the iTunes Japan store, iTunes Japan pays in Japanese yen. The money is converted into U.S. dollars by the bank and forwarded on to you. 101 Distribution takes none of the money from the sale of your music. You get it all, but be aware that bank conversion rates are out of our control and can change from day to day. The bank will convert the currency into U.S. dollars based on what the exchange rate is at the time the bank receives the money. For songs sold individually off an EP or album through the iTunes stores, you receive the following: iTunes US Store US $0.70, iTunes Australia/New Zealand AU$0.99, iTunes Canada CAD $0.70, iTunes Japan YEN 100, iTunes Europe/U.K. Store Euros 0.71. Albums and EPs are sold in their entirety in two possible ways: Albums under 11 songs and EPs are priced by the song. To calculate how much you would receive from the sale of an album with less than 11 songs or an EP, multiply the number of songs by the pay rate of that iTunes store. Albums with 11 songs or more sold in their entirety have a set pay rate, you receive the following: iTunes US Store US $7.00, iTunes Australia/New Zealand AU$9.99, iTunes Canada CAD $7.00, iTunes Japan YEN 1000, iTunes Europe/U.K. Store Euros 5.40.
Yes you can setup as many projects as you would like under your main account. All of the titles you enter via 101 Distribution will appear only under your one account. When you log in, you will see all of your release titles, album cover graphics, song titles, order of songs on each title/release, UPC for each title/release and the ISRC for each song, all under your one account. When you go to your Admin page, you will be able to see, itemized sales information for each album and song in each store and service. Your data is very secure: the only way to gain access to the information under your account is to have the email address and password associated with the account. Anyone that logs into your account with the user name and password will be able to see all the information for all of your releases and titles. Please guard your password carefully.
If a customer purchases a single or complete album from the 101d.com site you will see the sale on your admin page within minutes. For ringtone Sales it typically takes the carrier 90-120 days to report sales figures to your admin page and deposit royalties into your account. For third party digital sales it can take 30-60 days after the end of the month before you see sales figures and royalties, depending on the time of month that the sale occurred and from which digital storefront the item was purchased from. 101 Distribution has no control over the sales on these third party sites; there are rare times that these providers are late with their reporting.
Here are all the fees you'll ever encounter at 101 Distribution for digital distribution of music: One-Time Fees: Professional Package $599.95 +$100 setup fee. Basic Package $49.95. Merchandise Setup Fee $189.95 for Basic Clients and $89.95 for Professional Clients. Annual Storage Fee of $19.95 iTunes rush fee $189.95 if space is available. 250 Additional Download Cards $89.95 If you'd like an album/EP/single taken down from one or more stores/services (only albums/EPs/singles, not individual songs, can be taken down) There will be $50.00 early termination fee per album/EP/single per request. When you transfer funds from your 101 Distribution account, there will be a $2 Fee if we are transferring under $100. They may also be a fee imposed by the bank or financial service or PayPal. 101 Distribution charges a $50.00 early termination fee within the first 6 months, in order to discourage people from frivolously uploading and requesting albums/EPs/singles be taken down right after they went up. Taking content off a store/service is a complex and time-consuming process for all involved.
All iTunes stores sell music and music videos only as permanent digital downloads (no streaming is offered) that the customer owns and uses in the fixed pay rate permanent digital download model. Customers can purchase songs or music videos individually for a per-song/per-video price, or customers can buy albums whole (not music videos), getting every song on that album for one set price. Most often, iTunes sells individual songs at $0.99 each. Most often, albums are sold for either the sum of all the songs on the album (for albums with ten or less songs), or for a single set price of $9.99 for albums over ten songs. For example, if your album has five songs, an iTunes U.S. customer can either buy the songs individually for $0.99 or the whole album for 6 x $0.99 = $5.94. If you had another album with 12 songs, an iTunes U.S. customer can either buy the songs individually for $0.99 or the whole album for $9.99. However, iTunes (and all other digital retailers, for that matter) reserve the right to sell music and/or music videos any way they want and at any price they want. When your songs or albums sells, you will always receive the required amount, but iTunes can sell your music or video for a penny, a million dollars or anything in between. For music, iTunes reserves the right to make a song "purchasable only with the album." That is, no button would be placed next to the song itself, no option to download it on its own would be available to the iTunes customer. iTunes does this solely at their own discretion. Sometimes they simply adjust the price. Regardless, once a song or an album or a music video sells, you will be paid the required amount the moment iTunes sends the money. Remember, only albums, EPs and singles can be set to sell in stores/services, not individual songs. All songs are grouped into albums (technically, an EP and a single is an album of few or one song), and however the album is set to sell, so will all the songs on that album.
$19.95 per album/EP maintenance and service fee for both Basic and Professional Packages. 101 Distribution charges an annual maintenance and service fee to store, deliver and potentially redeliver your music to stores and services you chose or may opt for in the future. Also, we store your music in case one of the stores/services has a problem and requires we resend music files or information.
Payment by check or PayPal once requested when your account has over $100 in royalties. If you request a payout and there is less than $100 in your account, a $2.00 fee will be administered for payment processing. To request payment please send your project ID and name to Accounting@101d.com. A w9 must be filled out and sent to us prior to us sending payment.
Typical ringtone sales by the carries is $1.99 and wall paper sales are $1.00 and the retailer takes 50% and 101 Distribution you would get 50%. We would then credit your account 75% of the 50 % that 101 Distribution makes. You would be paid $.75 for every ringtone sale and $.37 for every wall paper sale.
