• How does Amazon MP3 sell my music?

  101 Distribution delivers your music to the Amazon MP3 music store, which sells music only as permanent digital downloads through the Web (no streaming is offered other than 30-second sample streams for each song). There is no physical distribution available through Amazon MP3. Your fans will be able to purchase songs individually or entire albums digitally as downloads to their computers and/or portable devices. Amazon MP3 sells individual songs and albums at various price levels: Front Line: The highest retail price in the store (good for new releases) Mid Line: Slightly lower than Front Line (good for new releases and other current releases) Catalog: Slightly lower than Mid Line (good for older or lower selling releases) Special: The lowest retail price in the store (good for promotions, old and/or low selling catalog) 101 Distribution submits all projects under the Front Line category At this time, digital songs and albums are only sold in two stores: the Amazon MP3 U.S. store and the Amazon MP3 U.K. store; be sure you have the rights to sell the music within those territories, and be prepared in case Amazon MP3 expands to other territories, since Amazon reserves the right to automatically place its catalog into any territory or store they create in any country. Amazon MP3 does not use Digital Rights Management (DRM) on music they sell. Music will be sold unprotected as MP3s. If you are concerned about the lack of DRM, please do not choose to sell your music through Amazon MP3. Amazon MP3 reserves the right to sell music any way they want and at any price they want. Amazon typically pays out between 60-65% of the sale price.

• What retail stores will my album be sold in?

  During the 60 day pre release campaign we will analyze in detail the geographic areas where your project sales are coming from. Once you have sold 500 full album downloads, we will then coordinate physical placement with our retail network ie., Best Buy, Target, Walmart, FYE, and other national and international retailers, to place product in areas where there is demand.

• How do I get my product into retail?

  Generate 500 total points from digital downloads and mail order CD's generated through your 101 Featured Project Page and all third party digital storefronts within the first 60 days of your release being activated at 101d.com and you will qualify for physical product placement in retail stores: 1 point is given for every full album download 1 point for every 10 single song downloads 1 point for every 10 ringtone downloads.

• How much do I make when my music sells with Amazon if I have a Professional project?

  101 Distribution distributes all products under the Front Line Category, ie. US $8.99 for full albums and US $0.89 for digital singles. Amazon pays out between 60% for digital sales.

• How do I get my music to retail stores without getting the 500 points?

  If you do not reach the 500 points YOU WILL NOT qualify for retail distribution, no matter how good your project is. We have great relationships with buyers all across the world and they trust and value the recommendations that we provide. If we cannot prove that you have at least 500 fans that are willing to purchase your CD, downloads or ringtones from the comfort of their own home, it will be next to impossible for us to convince Best Buy that they come to a store to purchase it.

• Is 101 a Label?

  No, 101 is an independent distributor. We supply the demand, you as the artist and/or your label create the demand.

• How much do I make from iTunes if I am Basic?

  iTunes pays out $0.70 to 101 Distribution for a single song and $7.00 for a full album download. 101 Distribution 100% of those price points directly to the artist or label. iTunes allows customers who purchased one or some of the tracks from a full album to, on some future date, "Complete My Album" (CMA) and get the rest of the album for only the cost of the remaining tracks. For accounting purposes, CMA purchases do not appear: rather, the album counts as a full SALE and the previously purchased track is considered refunded. EXAMPLE: If you had an album in iTunes U.S. with 17 songs/tracks and one of your fans purchased a song from it (say, track #5) you'd get the track pay rate of $0.70. If later the same customer came back and purchased the album in its entirety as a CMA, you would earn the pay rate for a whole album sale for albums over 11 songs/tracks, $7.00; a refund for the original track #5 purchase would be generated, but not appear in your accounting: it would "cancel out" the next sale you had of that particular track. That is, if in the same month, someone (anyone) purchased track #5, that sale would be "canceled out" by the CMA refund and not appear. The refund remains until canceled out by a sale, and can persist over many months until another track #5 is purchased.

• How does my music sell with Bestbuy.com, Tower.com, Fye.com?

  101 has extensive relationships with mail order websites and retail store websites like BestBuy.com, Tower.com, and FYE.com who sell physical CD's. In order to participate in the distribution to these sites, you will need to provide 101 with retail ready CD's or participate in the Disk on Demand program (included with the 101 Professional option).

• What are 101 Distribution's fees, and how do I pay for them?

  The one-time fees associated with selling your music of video project are: 101 Professional Setup Option $499.95 101 Basic Setup Option $49.95 Merchandise Setup Fee $199.95 for Basic accounts & $99.95 for Professional accounts Annual Storage Fee of $19.95 per project (after 12 months) If you'd like an album/EP/single taken down from one or more stores/services (only albums/EPs/singles, not individual songs, can be taken down) There will be $50.00 early termination fee per album/EP/single per request. When you transfer funds from your 101 Distribution account, there will be a $2 Fee if we are transferring under $100. They may also be a fee imposed by the bank or financial service or PayPal.

• How much do I make from iTunes stores?

  You are paid the pay rate in the local currency of the country where the sale occurred. For example, if an album or song sells from the iTunes Japan store, iTunes Japan pays in Japanese yen. The money is converted into U.S. dollars by the bank and forwarded on to you. 101 Distribution takes none of the money from the sale of your music. You get it all, but be aware that bank conversion rates are out of our control and can change from day to day. The bank will convert the currency into U.S. dollars based on what the exchange rate is at the time the bank receives the money. For songs sold individually off an EP or album through the iTunes stores, you receive the following: iTunes US Store US $0.70, iTunes Australia/New Zealand AU$0.99, iTunes Canada CAD $0.70, iTunes Japan YEN 100, iTunes Europe/U.K. Store Euros 0.71. Albums and EPs are sold in their entirety in two possible ways: Albums under 11 songs and EPs are priced by the song. To calculate how much you would receive from the sale of an album with less than 11 songs or an EP, multiply the number of songs by the pay rate of that iTunes store. Albums with 11 songs or more sold in their entirety have a set pay rate, you receive the following: iTunes US Store US $7.00, iTunes Australia/New Zealand AU$9.99, iTunes Canada CAD $7.00, iTunes Japan YEN 1000, iTunes Europe/U.K. Store Euros 5.40.

• Does 101 store my Physical Product?

  We stock up to 30 units of your retail ready CD's/DVD's and merchandise at our warehouse in Phoenix for both mail order and potential physical retail sales.

• What does 100% net royalty payout mean?

  101 distribution does not make any money for sales that occur through the 101 website or any third party storefront. If you sell a full album download for $9.99, you will be paid the full $9.99. Single song sales priced at $0.99, you will be paid the full $0.99. Directing fans to purchase your product through your 101 profile will generate the most money for product sales. 101 Distribution has the highest per unit payout in the industry. 3rd Party Single MP3 (iTunes) $0.70 (net payment) 3rd Party Album MP3 (iTunes) $7.00 (net Payment) Ring Tones $0.99 (net payment) 101 Direct Single Song MP3 $0.99 (net payment) 101 Direct Full Album MP3 $9.99 (net payment) Mail Order/ Online $9.90 (net payment) US Retail $5.25 (net payment) International Retail $4.50 (net payment)

• Will I be able to go buy my music at the T-Mobile, AT&T, or Verizon store?

  Selling directly through a carrier storefront on the handset is what is referred to as being "On Deck". Unlike, iTunes or Napster, the carriers ultimately decide what content they want to sell in their hand set store. While you will have no problem selling mobile content via our web-based SMS program, only projects that have measurable radio play and semi-national tour support get placed On Deck.

• If I am a Label can I have multiple projects under 1 account?

  Yes you can setup as many projects as you need under your main account. All of the project profiles you create at 101 Distribution will appear under your account only. Your admin page will detail itemized sales information for each album and song, in each store and service. Your data is very secure: the only way to gain access to the information under your account is to have the email address and password associated with the account. Anyone that logs into your account with the user name and password will be able to see all of your private information and sales totals. Please guard your password carefully.

• When does the pre release campaign start?

  The pre-release campaign begins and runs 60 days from the date you activate your Feature Project page online at 101d.com.

• How much do I get paid from ringtone and wall paper sales?

  Ringtones sell for $1.99 and wall paper images sell for $.99. The carrier keeps 50% of each price point and you net 50% of each price point.

• What is an ISRC code and how do I get them?

  ISRC codes are unique identifiers that track individual single sales. You must have an ISRC code to distribute and sell your singles through 101 and all third party digital storefronts. We create ISRC codes, at no additional charge for our 101 clients. You can use your own ISRC codes If you have them.
